A church in Upland California has over 1,000 Nativities on display this weekend. They feature scenes of the baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary, and Joseph in the stable. The nativity scenes are from many different cultures from around the world. Many people have volunteered their personal nativities to be on display for the event.
A recent article on the Nativity display said this:
When the festival was created, members of the church were initially asked to display their Nativity scenes, but as the years went by, members of other churches participated, Allison said.
The Nativity scenes – also called creches – are made of all types of materials and depict the baby Jesus, Joseph, Mary and wisemen in almost all ethnicities, even as bears.
“I think it’s a really nice way to welcome the community into our building and be able to share the excitement of Christmas,” said Diane Anderson, hostess for the festival.
This is a beautiful event for the Christmas season as we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. The three day event draws visitors from other cities and states as well as local choirs and orchestras. The choirs and orchestras will perform at the nativity event.
